So many things to recall, like the movie theater for your double features was just across the parking lot there. I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark there! Inspired by your comment I looked it up and it's not even really called Topanga Plaza anymore. Also it looks exactly like My local mall here now. But let's face it, that's how malls are! To me it was always that Topanga Plaza was the more Middle Class Mall, with diverse entertainments, while the Promenade was the fancy Upper Middle Class Mall with the fancier stores like Saks Fifth Avenue. Yeah, hard to imagine that area not feeling more rich than in the 70'S!Feldenstein Calypsohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04896259011478481374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1982462977744808678.post-45129444661363060922021-04-11T15:57:52.936-07:002021-04-11T15:57:52.936-07:00Holy cow, those are terrific! They have pictures of that string thing, along w/ the ice skating ring, and the giant Broadway store sign. It's deeply nostalgic, a time when I recall seeing double features. Several years ago while evacuated from a horrible fire, I took my family there and it was unrecognizable. Others living in the present with it might still find it charming and kid friendly, but I did not. It's also hard to measure the socioeconomic place in the old Topanga Plaza. It did not feel "rich" whereas the new place smells like money. But again it might be only perspective. Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06892475919612998813noreply@blogger.com
