Dark jokes about dogs

This is a dark joke. But it's okay because it's about dogs. When I made this joke my colleague did not think it was funny. It made her sad. I think she did not think it was funny because unlike me she does not walk around her neighborhood flipping off dogs.

Yes, I do that. I flip off dogs, but only when they bark at me, meanly. If a dog ever barks at me nicely, in a gentle, friendly tone of voice, I simply smile and say a warm hello. I mean I would, if a dog would like to try it.

So we were talking about replacement costs for damaged books at the library. And my colleague mentioned sadly how a dog had chewed just a little bit of a book, but the book was like $28 and she sadly had to charge the person all that money.

I said "I always give them an option. I tell them they can pay for the replacement cost of the book, but if they bring in a document verifying that they put the dog to sleep we will clear the charges."

Oh. Now I feel kind of sad.

  1. I think it's a pretty good joke myself. I mean, you know, not on par with the interrupting cow joke, but a pretty good joke nonetheless. My hunch is most dogs would think it's pretty funny as well.

    1. Oh boy, a Grape sighting! I can't begin to say how excited I am!

I am so glad you thought the joke "pretty good". Of course, Interrupting cow is a monster, a legend among jokes, a masterpiece, so it's like playing soccer and saying, hey, excellent dribble there, but not on par with Messi. I can live with that.

I don't know that any dog would find it funny. A friendly dog would just be really happy I was talking to it. An unfriendly dog would just bark and growl at me and hear nothing.

      Thank you for your comments!

  2. ha ha! By the way, I am using my Google sign in since I started a blog here, but I wasn't sure you knew I was the same person as kiminorkey (my old sign-in) who you might know as Grape's friend.

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
