Shall I explain soccer to you?

A co-worker of mine follows a few sports pretty closely. She saw something about Premier League Football on a sports show she was watching and decided she would like to know about soccer. She looked it up on the Internet, but it was seriously confusing. All the leagues and tournaments and presumption of previous knowledge can be bewildering for a neophyte soccer fan. But she was pretty sure I knew something about soccer. So she decided to ask me.

I said "Are you sure? I can kind of go on once I get started."

"No, no." She exclaimed. "I'm sure. I want to know."

But I suspected the limits of her interest. And after just three hours I could tell she was already regretting it.

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
