The disappearing deer

I wanted to go to Pike Island to photograph deer. But the drive seemed too long to commit to on a workday, and I wanted to stumble around in the meadows of Reservoir Woods as well. Reservoir Woods have the virtue of being on my way to work, and so I went there. I wandered the cemetery. I headed into the swamp where once I had seen two swans.

And through the tangle of trees and fallen wood there was, to my total delight, a small group of deer. They were not easily startled, but it was hard to get clear pictures of them through the great weave of grasses and branches. I circled around and above them.

Trying to get a better vantage I lost sight of them for just a moment.

And I never saw them again.

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
