Stumbling upon the truth

Sometimes, through long experience, scholarship, and sheer intelligence, we manage to suss out the truth.

Sometimes, though, it's just pure chance.

An older woman came to me at the front desk of the library. She needed a new library card. She had lost hers. I informed her that it would cost two dollars to replace a lost card. She told me her card would have been from a long time ago. It had been years since she had been to the library.

I looked her up. "You're no longer in the system." I said. "So I can just get you a new card and not charge anything."

"Good." She replied, pleased to save the two bucks.

"Time solves all our problems." I said.

Then, taken aback, I reflected.

"And creates them."

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
