Sounds of the library

A patron comes to me at the front desk of the library. She wants to get a library card.

"I haven't been in a library for years, and I just moved to the area. I love books and libraries! I'm so excited to be here and get a card!" She enthuses. But then she stops short in self consciousness. "Wait." She says. "Did I just say all that super loud? Am I being too loud for the library?" She asks quietly.

I smile. "Wait for it." I say. And I hold up a finger.

A blood curdling scream issues from the children's room and splits the night.

"Worry not." I say. "You're way ahead of the curve."

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
