Pike Island: Honestly it gets almost ridiculous

So there I was, among the herd of deer, like almost an honorary member of the crew.

I'm well off the trail, deep into the Pike Island woods, among the grasses and tangled wood, just pointing my camera around, surrounded by deer.

When a person is adopted into a herd of deer, and that person is also a bit of an amateur photographer for whom only one out of a hundred shots is likely to turn out really well, that person is inclined to at some point just sort of point the camera around taking all kinds of shots to boost the odds.

So that's what I was doing.

Wait.

What is that?

Between the deer's legs?

Let's look a little closer?

That is a turkey!

The turkeys had arrived!

  1. I know it's not tick season, and you probably took these a week ago, but please do a thorough tick check. I'm sure your oft-mentioned lovely wife will be glad to help!

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
