Clerkmanifesto says that I will be retiring from the library at the end of Summer.
As the snow falls here, this seems very far away to me.
But I have been around long enough to know that it isn't far away at all.
I have been around long enough now to know that nothing is ever far away.
I will be retiring with my dear wife briefly to Japan, and then permanently to France.
I have thought a lot of things about retiring. Sometimes I even think about what I would like to do when retired.
With my early start, there is going to be more of retirement even than there was of working.
And so I have settled on this:
I would like to learn all of the things I haven't been able to so far.
This will keep me busy for a thousand years.

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.
I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!
One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
