Clerkmanifesto is going context free for 100 days!
While I retire from 31 years at the Roseville Library, sell nearly everything I own, fly with my darling wife to Japan for 40 days, and then move together to France to start to build a life there, I present a less explained clerkmanifesto, a clerkmanifesto of snapshots and time travel. Below you may see old posts without introduction from my 4,750 post collection. You may see random photos, brand new or years old. I may write a passage about Japan as if of course you know I'm in Japan, I may make a simple observation or joke, but whatever it is, I won't be explaining it. You'll have to take it as it comes.
For more context you are welcome to read this longer introduction.
And if this is all too confusing I welcome you to investigate our thousands of fully explained historic posts from the past 12 years, though I'll be the first to admit, hours later, you may still come away a little confused.
Here, however it works, is what clerkmanifesto has for you today:
So that, in the message above, was the plan. It still is. But twenty-three posts into it, I find I am still inclined towards polished, very finished posts. I'm trying to get the hang of this new plan, but once I get these posts scheduled so far in advance, I can't help but check on them while they're waiting for their turn. And once I'm checking on them, and especially if I'm finding they really could be better, it is not yet in my wheelhouse to not make them better.
And then the other thing is that I really like context. So if I am posting a picture (or several of them) that I am very proud of, I want to fully reveal its meaning, or its process, or even what it really is behind the scenes. Most of the time that's best done with a nice, thoughtful introduction. An introduction that I check on a week later and find needs to be rewritten.
Nevertheless this technique is working somewhat. As I write this it is merely August first, so you can see I am a little ahead of the game. And with the sheer volume of changes going on in my life I am insatiably curious to know a few things about August 19th! I mean, I know I'm retired, but I have a ton of other questions.
No, don't tell me! I'll find out soon enough.
And I'm not thinking I have to do all 100 of these posts before I go. I just want to get safely ensconced in Japan, that is, have posts fully prepared into September. After a couple weeks there, and when I'm posting on the fly, I might be able to take more advantage of this impulsive and impromptu set-up.
And if I can manage a few more off-the-cuff posts as practice for when I get there, all the better. But this is not one of those. This post is a polished jewel, so shiny you can see yourself in it.
Yes, look there. See that?
That's you!

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.
I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!
One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
