Acid flowers

On short notice we are racing around the country looking at apartments to rent and trying to figure out where to live. So it's a bit chaotic here at clerkmanifesto. I have to throw things in my suitcase and be prepared to be gone for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

I guess it's a bit of a way to see this country. We may finally get out of the south. But to start with we'll be running along the bottom coast for a bit more still.

In the meantime I'll be cashing in on some of my massive photography work I've been spending most of my spare time on lately. We'll start today with a very short series of photos I took yesterday, or maybe even this morning, of some flowers in front of the organic food store.

I took these pictures, and I then dropped the camera in a mysterious radioactive puddle. When I got the photo roll back from the developers this is what came out:

Flowers, yes, but different

I may have tested the load carrying capacity on pictures of flowers here on clerkmanifesto.  But that was last month! I'm pretty sure it all resets at the start of the new month.

Yes, yes, this is August, very different than July.

And if it doesn't reset?

Fortunately, these are very different flower pictures. These are the kind where I layer and draw and erase them until I start to have back problems and need to go lie down for a bit. So even if you can hardly bear to look at another picture of flowers perhaps you'll still be able to enjoy the art here, which, you know, just coincidentally happens to be of flowers, but the flower part isn't very important.

Except maybe to the flowers.

Gathering for Genoa

We're not going to be in Genoa for a terribly long time, just a few nights. But it still behooves me to get ahead here on clerkmanifesto so your steady daily reading isn't interrupted for a single moment. For longer transitions than this I have come up with all kinds of solutions; for instance when we moved to France via a five week trip to Japan I made up almost a hundred posts ahead of time, and then when I was in Japan I added in content from my phone as I could. Once, on a month long trip to Rome for our 25th anniversary I posted fictional accounts of what I thought would be happening, but wrote them all before it happened. Unfortunately this was lost on some readers, and upon my return I found myself at work having to correct the record some. Although, and anyone who has ever been on some fabulous vacation knows, no one really cares very much.

I mean, other than you. Which does you credit.

Of course, a four day trip hardly merits all this fuss. I have often been many days out ahead in my clerkmanifesto postings. Just not lately. Lately I do my French practice every day and write my post. Which is maybe why I'm talking about this now.

Also, I mean, I have to talk about something. And as noted I'd like to do it five or six times today, if I could.

Fortunately too, to help it all along, I have various photography projects to pull from, so they might be able to come into it too.

For instance, check out these flowers!

Horizontal

The keen-eyed among you will have noticed that at some point pretty much all pictures on clerkmanifesto began to come in a vertical format. This is not out of any particular preference on my part, but has to do with the peculiarities of how pictures get formatted here. I either have to make the images smaller than I like when they're horizontal, or they spill unfashionably over the sidebar.

But in my endless Seussification of flower photos, including some images dating back many years, I have on my hands yet again horizontal pictures.

I'd really like to show them.

I just wanted to warn you today in case this is too much of a shock.

If you are sensitive to these things may I suggest that you lie on your side to view today's images.

Another post for bees

Yes, yes, I know it was all flowers yesterday. But because for some odd reason I decided to make them into super high resolution images, I really couldn't upload all that many. The blog gods only allowed for three flowers in a single post! So I still had quite a few of these new flower pictures left over.

Your mileage on looking at my seussified close up photography of flowers may vary, but the bees love it.

Come to think of it, your mileage on enjoying twee concepts like bees reading clerkmanifesto and getting super excited whenever I show pictures of flowers may vary too, although if it does, I'm a bit surprised you've made it this far on clerkmanifesto.

Maybe you're just an earnest, no nonsense bee who hangs in there for the flower pictures? If so...

Here you go:
