Best blog post ever

I have written over 600 blog posts. Some of them were good, some maybe not so. To tell you the truth it can be hard for me to tell. Close your eyes and have someone put a strange object half an inch from your face. Now open your eyes. What is it?

Er, right, a ladybug. Bad example, but if it were a giraffe, or a motorcycle, you might not have known. You would have learned something important from my example. I had no way of knowing you were friends with an entomologist. I'm not blaming anyone.

Anyway, where were we?

Ah, yes, I remember.

I have written a lot of blog posts, which means I have a lot of experience. Which means I am ready now to write my best blog post yet! Think back to your favorite blog post ever, one you really loved. The blog post that made you say to yourself "I guess I can keep reading clerkmanifesto. Sometimes it's sort of interesting." Yes, that blog post!

Got it?

No?

You can't remember any of the previous blog posts?

Arrrgh! The Internet is so, so disposable! I have half a mind to start blogging in marble!

Okay, pretend there was a really great blog post. Picture just the sort of blog post you'd like to read. Today I am going to write a blog post twice as good as that. So brace yourself. Your mind is about to be blown.

Recently someone implied to me, by saying it directly, that they know I am struggling a bit with the blog when I write a lot about the blog. But I want to say here that this isn't about the blog, except in the sense that the blog itself stands in for the fundamental questions about the nature of reality. The blog is a mirror of the reflection that...

What's that?

When's the best blog post ever?

Why, I believe it's ending just now.

I know. The best things seem to go by the fastest.

    1. Yes, thank you. I am trying very hard not to be smug about it!

  2. I remember once in poetry class having a discussion on "poems about poetry." It went back and forth--whether it's indulgent, boring, fascinating, interesting only to writers of poetry. It ended up with a ladybug flying around from desk to desk, with its lovely dotted wings, and in that ladybug I suppose is the answer---WAIT!!! I believe this is the greatest comment ever written!!!

    1. Me too!

But beware, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. At any moment a greater comment than yours may be written!

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
