Resisting my impulses

I would never do this. It would be maybe a bit rude and intrusive. And I wouldn't even mention it. But working all these years at the library, and walking past people on computers for decades, the thought continues to occur to me over and over through the years.

So I figured it was time to let it all out somewhere.

Well not somewhere.

Here.

And it is this:

When I walk by people playing solitaire, as they so strangely often are, on any of our many computers in this library, I always imagine quietly sliding a nice new deck of cards onto the table in front of them, as like a helpful tool they never imagined, and then moving along without a word.

Post a Comment

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
