Distracted

I had finished shelving a cart of books. So I wheeled my empty cart to the elevator and got in. My mind was racing, thinking of some blog post, or possibly re-working my upcoming liqueur budget with such a feverish intensity that it was a long while before I realized that I was just standing in an elevator, with the door closed, going absolutely nowhere.

"Hmph." I thought. And then I started to reach towards the buttons, and then I stopped.

And then I stood there some more.

  1. Do you think your time in the elevator would have been so productive if it had broken down and you were forced to stay? Is it that it provides a quiet place free of patrons and coworkers regardless of the circumstances or do you have to knowingly create that oasis?

I find myself in need of a good cocktail involving tequila. Do you know of such a thing?

    1. I don't know. I'd like to try the elevator breaking down with me inside just once, to see. It would be best on the way up, with a full cart of reading material to choose from.

I'd have to look into tequila drinks, focused as I am on gin based ones. Though on the obvious end I think Margaritas are famous for a reason, just make sure you use fresh lime juice and a good enough orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier. 2 parts tequila, one part Cointreau, one part fresh lime juice, shaken with ice, strained.

    2. Oh please let me know how things turn out if you are ever (un?)fortunate to get stuck.

  2. LOL love this, sometimes I am standing there for a while then realize it is going nowhere because I have forgotten to push the button for the level I want to go to. Then I wonder if anyone will notice how long I stay in there for, it is nice and air-conditioned BTW

    1. An air-conditioned elevator. Swanky. If we had air-conditioning, and maybe a stereo system, I'd be in there all day! I'd pack a lunch.

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
