A petty revenge

Dear Publisher:

After eight months of waiting I was delighted to finally receive your response to my manuscript submission. As I opened your letter I hoped against hope that you would want to publish my carefully crafted book of essays.

Sadly it was not to be.

You weren't interested.

You said it doesn't meet your needs at this time.

Well, I just want you to know that you were my second choice publisher anyway. There was a publisher I was way more interested in than you! You were just my safety publisher!

Unfortunately my first choice publisher wasn't interested in my manuscript either. But I got the last laugh there too. I just told them they were my second choice publisher.

If you change your mind let me know. I'll just be here waiting by my mailbox.

Sincerely,

F. Calypso

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
