Leveling the playing field

I arrived for work at the library and, as I usually do, I made my rounds to acclimate. Out at the front desk one of my co-workers was idly shopping for clothes.

"It has been requested" I said portentously, "That we only use these computers to watch soccer matches."

"I'll keep that in mind." My colleague said drily.

"Although between you and me," I added in a confidential undertone "I think it would be okay to shop for soccer related apparel and to read soccer news."

Then I headed off to the back room to write an "All Staff" email about calendar ordering that was 12 times longer than it needed to be.

If you were wondering, yes, you should comment. Not only does it remind me that I must write in intelligible English because someone is actually reading what I write, but it is also a pleasure for me since I am interested in anything you have to say.

I respond to pretty much every comment. It's like a free personalized blog post!

One last detail: If you are commenting on a post more than two weeks old I have to go in and approve it. It's sort of a spam protection device. Also, rarely, a comment will go to spam on its own. Give either of those a day or two and your comment will show up on the blog.
